My favourite Festive tradition: Mulled wine
As soon as the tree is up, I make my first batch of mulled wine. Even when we lived in Los Angeles, I would find the ingredients and serve it to friends who had never heard of it before. The aroma of sliced oranges, cloves, cinnamon and red wine is one of the most welcoming scents to fill the air. Leave it gently bubbling on the stove: it instantly makes the house smell like Christmas!
In a large pot add:
1 bottle of red wine
3 cinnamon sticks/about 8 cloves
2 star anise
1 sliced orange
A good drizzle of honey
Warm on the stove for 20 to 30 minutes, then strain and serve with a ladle – cheers!
